Timeline of the Cannabis Flowering Stage - 2019 Updated for Cannabis Beginners

Introduction to the Cannabis Flowering Stage

During the phase of life known as the vegetative stage (the first stage of life for marijuana), a cannabis plant grows about how you’d expect… like a weed! In the vegetative stage a cannabis plant only grows new stems and leaves, and can grow several inches a day with the added ability to recover from just about anything!

Even if you run into major problems in the vegetative stage, you can bring your plant back from the brink of death simply by addressing the problem and giving your plant some TLC.

In the vegetative stage, your cannabis plant only grows stems and leaves and is resistant to problems. It grows like a weed!

DIFFERENT STAGES OF FLOWERING CANNABIS

Stage 1: Entering The Cannabis Flowering Stage
To introduce your plants to this new stage in their life cycle, make sure you are using the right flowering grow lights. Gradually change the light cycles until you reach a 12/12 hours ratio of light and darkness. Again, growing indoor gives you the perfect opportunity to create an environment that suits your plants best. It's important to take advantage of indoor growing instead of being dependent on the rhythm of the sun. The better your cannabis flowering stages are, the better your yield will be.

The first 1 to 3 weeks of the flowering stage are a transition phase and your plants will still be growing. Your plants could double their height at this point depending on the type of strain you are using.

Stage 2: Spotting Your First Flowers
In the fourth week of the flowering stage, the first thing you will notice is that the plants are no longer growing but using the energy they have to growing the buds. The buds at this stage look bigger and fatter though they may still have white hairs sticking out of them. The bigger the buds get the more trichomes they form and the more the marijuana odor becomes pronounced. At this stage, you do not need any more plant training. You should however try to hold them up more if they need any structural support.

As the buds continue to thicken and grow in the fifth week, new buds will also start sprouting up in other places along the plant cola. This will increase the growth of the buds giving you better chances of a bigger yield. The odor will also get more intense. Because of this, you should make sure; that the ventilation of your indoor grow space is good especially if you do not want the odor leaking out. During this stage, the pistils start turning color from white to a darker brown. Some may also term amber and others may retain the white. Some of the trichomes turn opaque while others become milky white with their hairs turning dark. None of these changes should worry you because they are all signs that your crop is almost ready for harvest and growing well.

Stage 3: End of the grow and ripening of cannabis flowers
Now the plants no longer need high doses of nutrients to finish ripening, we’ll avoid adding more fertilisers. To know when to harvest your plants you must examine the trichomes carefully and wait until the vast majority of them have a cloudy white colour and some of them an amber, red or other colour.

Before being harvested, the vast majority of the cannabis plants leaves should be a yellow colour. This indicates a lack of nitrogen and other nutrients in them, which assures us that the buds will have a superior flavour and aroma since there will be no interferences caused by the salts accumulated in the leaves, stems and flowers.

It should be remembered that if the plants are harvested with a very strong green color, the taste of the flowers will neither be faithful to the variety nor pleasant to smoke, lacking the proper organoleptic properties, a great shame after weeks of hard work and dedication.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS DURING FLOWERING
In order to induce and maintain the flowering cycle of your plants you’ll want to expose them to a constant 12-12 light cycle. This means they get 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark day in, day out.

For best results, you’ll want to use a HID grow light that falls somewhere along the yellow or red color band. Using this kind of cannabis grow light will ensure your plants get just the right amount of high-quality light which will maximize their potential. Also an indoor grow tent can also improve the quality of your cannabis.

If you’re growing outdoors you obviously won’t have this much control. Hence, just make sure your plants are in an area where they can get as much exposure to regular sunlight as possible. Also, make sure they are positioned so the light reaches all parts of the plant evenly.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
The most important part of growing cannabis is paying careful attention to your plants. While they may not actually speak, cannabis plants are very good at giving you signs about what they need and how they’re developing. Hence, make sure to read up on grow literature and pay special attention to the unique genetics and phenotype you’re working with.

In doing so, you can rest assured that your plants will be the best they can be and you’ll be rewarded with a heavy harvest of delicious buds.

How soon can you tell the sex of a cannabis plant grown from seed? 2019 Updated

In the world of plants, reproduction can happen in a variety of ways. Hermaphrodite plants grow single flowers that have both male and female reproductive organs. Monoecious plants produce two different types of flowers on the same plant. And then there are dioecious plants like cannabis, which produce either male or female reproductive organs. Because cannabis grows as either a male or female plant, we can isolate the benefits of growing females with or without male interference. Introducing both males and females will result in cross-pollination and thus seeds, which is how a breeder achieves new genetics. On the other hand, removing a male from the garden allows female plants to grow large, seedless buds (called sensimilla). The resinous buds that we consume all come from female plants. When do marijuana plants reveal their gender? Cannabis plants go through two stages of life, the “vegetative” stage and the “flowering stage.” They first go through the vegetative life stage,...

How to Plant Cannabis Seeds Indoors? 2019 Update

Growing from seed is all about the quality of your seeds. Plants will never be better than the seeds they grew from. Back in the day, there weren’t any seed shops, so seeds were saved from exceptional buds, but it was all a crapshoot with a lot of trial and error. Luckily, now we know better. Starting from seed isn’t difficult and you don’t need to be an experienced gardener, but the process is a journey in stages, not a direct flight. Cannabis plants are perfect for growing from seed because they have a short life cycle. That being said, be prepared to check your plants every day for moisture, insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies and light. Germination is the process in which a new plant begins to grow from a seed. Also referred to as “popping,” germination is the very first step in starting your cannabis garden. When acquiring seeds, you want to make sure they are matured and that they appear dark brown with lighter accents and a hard feel. You don’t want a seed that feels ...

Does a carbon filter remove smell? 2019 Updated

What is an Activated Carbon Filter? Activated carbon filters are small pieces of carbon, typically in granular or powdered block form, that have been treated to be extremely porous. It is so cavernous, in fact, that just one gram of activated carbon can easily have a surface area of 500m2 or higher. Vast surface area enables these carbon filters to adsorb exponentially more contaminants and allergens than traditional carbon. Adsorption is a distinct process where organic compounds in the air or water react chemically with the activated carbon, which causes them to stick to the filter. The more porous the activated carbon is, the more contaminants it will capture. These filters are most notably used to remove hazardous compounds in home air purification systems. HOW LONG DOES ACTIVATED CARBON LAST? The Activated Carbon filter is a very important air filter in all the air purifier systems, but it can only last for a short time. Typical Activated carbon filter (or Charcoal filter...
